(I would not-so-secretly love a chance to pitch my take, and if that’s even close to possible, I’m open for business at .) My studio specializes in title sequences, and I want the opening credits for this new journey to the cabin to be just as frightening and original as the film they introduce. I hope to someday join their ranks.Īnd I can’t wait to see the new EVIL DEAD remake. The new wave of artists working with Mondo have made movie posters worth collecting again, and that’s a great thing. The moment I saw it, I only wanted to see it move – which is how I feel about all great posters. I created all the artwork in the sequence, but the final image is directly inspired by an incredible EVIL DEAD poster created by Olly Moss. This is my cinematic love letter to three influential movies that made me want to be a filmmaker: EVIL DEAD, EVIL DEAD 2, and ARMY OF DARKNESS. Here's what Daniel says:įollow the evil that roams through the dark bowers of man’s domain in this balls-to-the-wall animated tribute to the sights, sounds and unforgettable characters of Sam Raimi’s iconic EVIL DEAD trilogy! That poster sparked something in Daniel M Kanemoto, and this was the result. And like all great art, it has inspired other artists (as Olly was inspired by Sam Raimi, who had his own inspirations, and so on down the line). With Mondo having already announced they will be releasing special prints for the show by the likes of Jock, Drew Millward, Olly Moss, Kevin Tong Becky and Frank, as well as a couple of others, it seems likely that Olly will have another unannounced print for Mondo and not Lawrence of Arabia as everyone previously assumed.Īnyway, it’s great to see Olly lifting the veil on what he has to offer and has done nothing if not raise the excitement levels of Thought Bubble 2013.Olly Moss' Evil Dead poster from Mondo was a great one. I’m assuming that the mystery print will be his Mondo piece for this year. What is exceptionally exciting is the tease of the ‘Mystery Print’. These remind me of old school Olly Moss designs and look pretty cool. Unless you have deeeeep pockets, the chances of owning the likes of his Evil Dead and Star Wars prints are very slim, so it’s a nice little touch for those who would like some genuine Olly Moss produced versions of these.Īdditional to all of that, Olly has also produced some great Super Mario Bros and Pokemon themed letterpresses and stickers. While that fantastic Lawrence of Arabia print (with shiny metallics) is no surprise, it’s great to see that Olly will have some mini art card versions of some of his more famous, expensive and hard to find Mondo and Rolling Roadshow prints. On Expressobeans earlier on today, Olly posted the below image showing some of the great swag he will have up for grabs at TB. Olly Moss will again be attending Thought Bubble for the 2013 festival after curating the ‘Mondo So Far’ show last year at the White Cloth gallery, and it looks as if he will be packing the goodies. Nowadays Olly rests among the elite of graphic designers having become one of Mondo’s top artists, starting his own computer games design company, Campo Santo, as well as designing posters for the likes of the 85th Academy Awards. I was a little late to board the Moss train and first became interested after seeing the alternative movie posters he put together for Empire Magazine. Most print collectors will confess that the reason they got into the game was through discovering the work of Olly Moss.
